France’s military forces were on full show on July 14 as troops paraded down the Champs-Élysées in Paris to celebrate Bastille Day.
Consisting of around 6,500 participants, the festivities sported multiple flyovers, with soldiers marching on foot and riding on horseback, as well as parading down the famous avenue in armoured vehicles.
This year’s celebrations also included members of India’s military, with the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi being hosted as the guest of honour by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte.
The event serves as a spectacular backdrop for business discussions between the two leaders, with Modi negotiating the purchase of French jets and submarines during his two-day visit to the European Union Member State.
Such negotiations are set to continue at the Elysee Palace later on July 14, with the talks to be followed by a state banquet at the Louvre Museum.
Not all seems to have gone smoothly, with footage emerging of Macron being booed while being driven along in an open-top car.
pic.twitter.com/37twI5Dqzd
