A senior politician on the Spanish Right has raised eyebrows by launching her new party’s election campaign from a brothel.
Headed up by former Vox leader Macarena Olona, the new Caminando Juntos party was founded just last month, with Olona emphasising that the organisation would focus on serving the Spanish people.
Seemingly in an attempt to drive this message home, she opted on July 7 to launch the party’s 2023 Spanish general election campaign from the “Geisha Room”, a brothel located in Spain’s Grenada region.
“I know that today our presence here is going to make many people’s ears ring,” the politician admitted.
“The hate battalions will already be making memes and trying to ridicule us as the party of whores, gypsies and fags.”

Olona, surrounded by prostitutes wearing white masks to conceal their identity, voiced her support for sex workers, attacking the “hypocrisy” of those who “pay for the affection and expert love” but do not give them any help afterwards.
She went on to vow that those who might criticise the launch party stunt would be the ones left feeling hot under the collar.
“We know they do it out of fear,” she said. “Fear of normal people, fear of common sense.
“We are the party of ordinary people who take a step forward so that the lives of ordinary people return to being in politics,” Olona added.
Her decision to launch the election campaign in a brothel appears to reflect a level of ideological support the new outfit has for those in the sex industry. The president of Spain’s Association of Sex Workers has already been announced as a Caminando Juntos candidate in this month’s general elections, topping the party’s voting list in Valencia.
However, observers say Olona is likely to face an uphill battle regarding her ambition to reform political and social attitudes, with the country currently leaning increasingly to the Right, according to recent polling.
