The artist has previously voiced his opinions on key issues in French politics. He urged his fans to vote in France’s snap parliamentary elections in June and signed an article in May asking the French government to recognise officially the state of Palestine.
This is not the first time artists have spoken out against the use of their music at political events without permission, often seeking legal action to stop it.
According to music magazine Rolling Stone, Beyoncé recently issued a cease-and-desist order to the campaign organisers for US presidential hopeful Donald Trump for using her song Freedom in a social media video without permission.
She did allow the use of her song for the Democrat candidate Kamala Harris’s campaign video.
