Remedia Europe is looking to hire experienced news reporters to contribute to daily news production at our fast-growing, Brussels-based media outlet, BrusselsSignal.eu

Remedia Europe is hiring reporters and stringers with strong on-the-ground knowledge of their country or region to contribute to Brussels Signal, our fast-growing, Brussels-based media outlet. If you’re a journalist who can speak directly to an international audience—on camera, in writing, and on social media – if you’re ready to challenge the status quo with
refreshing news stories, we want to hear from you.

The ideal candidates will have online journalism experience, a strong social media profile and have experience producing video content. Candidates should be well-versed covering current events in specific countries and language groups of Europe, be familiar with domestic affairs of the given country as well as major issues on the European level and be able to link the two. Going head-to-head with established competitors, applicants should be able to find stories that others cannot or will not cover, whether through scoops or unique angles, and be able to develop original sources.

These new positions offer the opportunity to be the face of innovative, European news coverage that aims to disrupt the European reporting scene. We’re looking for candidates with initiative and a nose for a good story.

Responsibilities

  • Stay on top of news developments with balanced and accurate coverage
  •  Produce accurate and engaging news content
  • Deliver video reports speaking to camera
  • Develop strong local and institutional sources
  • File news features and occasional scoop-driven stories
  • Build a following for your reporting through social media

Requirements

  • On-camera delivery skills and basic video production capability
  •  Strong social media presence or ability to grow an audience
  •  Sharp eye for stories others miss and the initiative to pursue them
  •  Attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability in meeting deadlines
  •  An established network of sources and the ability to develop it further
  • Strong written and spoken English; fluency in at least one other European language

Details

  • We offer competitive compensation for freelance contributions
  • Part-time, freelance agreements
  • Preference for candidates capable of covering multiple countries and committing to regular contributions
