China, US and Russia urge their nationals to leave Iran and Israel

China has urged its citizens to leave Iran “as soon as possible” and to avoid all travel to the country after repeated threats of US military strikes against Tehran.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consular department issued a statement today advising Chinese nationals currently in Iran to heighten their security measures and evacuate the country promptly.

It further recommended that citizens refrain from travelling to Iran for the time being due to the security situation.

This comes after a third round of talks in Geneva between Iran and the US, viewed as a last effort to avert a war. The negotiations come amid the most significant US military build-up in the Middle East in decades.

Separately, the US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a notice today authorising the voluntary departure of non-essential US Government personnel and their family members from Israel, citing safety risks. It encouraged those wishing to leave to do so while commercial flights remain available.

In a related development, in January, Russia reportedly carried out three evacuation flights from Israel in under 24 hours, transporting diplomatic officials and their families back to Moscow.

The operation, tracked via flight monitoring services, occurred without an official explanation from Russian authorities.

This move was seen by some observers as a precautionary measure ahead of potential further escalation in the Middle East.
