EU unveils 13th Star flag for ‘Global Partners’

The European Commission has unveiled a “new” 13th star for the EU flag for April Fools’ Day.

According to Brussels, the extra star is meant to symbolise “global partnerships” with countries outside the Union, from Australia to India.

“Whether it’s Australia, India, or Latin America, we’re constantly looking at how we can strengthen our partnerships around the world,” the EC said.

The announcement didn’t go down well online, with some users questioning whether the Commission had bigger priorities.

“What other important matters do you have on your agenda? Stopping wars, maybe?,” one online comment said.
