UK says Dutch right-wing commentator Vlaardingerbroek ‘not welcome’ after critical Starmer post

A Dutch right-wing political commentator and activist is no longer welcome in the UK.

Yesterday, the British Government sent a message to Eva Vlaardingerbroek saying her UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), a digital permission required for visa-exempt visitors, had been cancelled.

This means Vlaardingerbroek, a prominent voice in the international right-wing movement, cannot travel to the UK without a visa.

According to the statement by the British Government, shared by Vlaardingerbroek, her “presence in the UK is not considered to be conductive to the public good”.

It added that she could not appeal this decision.

The effective ban is a discretionary power often used by the UK’s Home Office for individuals whose conduct, views, or potential activities are deemed likely to incite disorder, harm community relations, or otherwise threaten public welfare.

Vlaardingerbroek reacted by stating “Holy sh*t”.

She added that the travel ban came three days after her making a highly critical post about UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

On January 9 she had written: “Keir Starmer wants to crack down on X under the pretence of ‘women’s safety’, whilst he’s the one allowing the ongoing rape and killing of British girls by migrant rape gangs. Evil, despicable man.”

Vlaardingerbroek often comments about the negative consequences of mass migration to the West, linking it to higher crime and social problems via statistics and incidents.

She is a strong supporter of remigration and regularly warns of “population replacement”.

Because of her focus on the downsides of open borders and criticism of diversity and progressivism, she is often described as “far-right” in establishment media and by left-of-centre governments.

Vlaardingerbroek has experienced bans on social media in the past.

In March 2023, shortly after Elon Musk’s acquisition and rebranding efforts of Twitter began to form X, her account on the platform was permanently suspended without clear explanation from the operator at the time.

She appealed and it was reinstated within hours amid public outcry.

In November 2025, she publicly announced she was being “shadow banned” on X.

Vlaardingerbroeck’s account was unfindable from another phone and did not appear in results. Only fake accounts showed up. When the real one was located, it was flagged as “possibly containing sensitive content”, preventing follows in some cases.

She attributed this specifically to European Union restrictions under the Digital Services Act (DSA), which limited her visibility and flagged content in the bloc while it remained normal elsewhere.

This was lifted shortly after, reportedly due to intervention from X’s leadership and possibly Musk personally.

Her speech from the conservative event CPAC 2024 in Hungary was banned from YouTube but later uploaded on X, where it amassed more than 50 million of views.

Vlaardingerbroeck’s UK ban coincides with a major migration crisis, where record numbers of illegal migrants continue to reach the British shores. For them, the UK Government is, though, more accommodating, providing them with food and shelter.

Other conservative commentators and users described the banning move as “insane” and proof that the UK Government prioritises silencing critics over addressing real threats.

This incident adds to a growing list of high-profile cases where controversial figures have been denied entry to the UK on public good grounds, although Vlaardingenbroek’s case stands out for its apparent connection to recent online political commentary.
