The elections taking place this spring mark the moment of Romania’s genuine transfiguration. No longer wandering, but returning to the path of truth, Romanians are heading to the polls! 18 May 2025 will be the liberation that transforms the face of Romania.
The salvation of a nation is moral and can only become historic if it happens at the right time and with a heart truly turned towards God. The Latin phrase “Nihil sine Deo” (nothing without God) is the identity motto of Romanian royalty. It is our fundamental symbolic heritage, which we honour. And yes, I believe that a return to monarchy could be a viable option for Romania—if the people so desire.
The vote was corrupted last year through what many in Romania consider a state crime—the unjustified annulment of the elections. Such a decision demands, unequivocally, public clarification and accountability. I will call for the recount of the ballots from the 24 November 2024 election, in order to uncover the true extent of the victory stolen from Călin Georgescu. In doing so, the clock of truth might once again begin to tick.
The book “The Transfiguration of Romania”, published in 1936 by the young Emil Cioran—later the illustrious French writer—contains an essential question that remains relevant today: What does it mean to be Romanian in a world still desperately seeking its meaning? We do not need radical visions or providential leaps. Nor can the answer come from violent mythologies or totalitarian nostalgia.
Transfiguration can only be achieved through democratic steps: a solid national education, concrete civic projects, the re-establishment of all Romanians’ identity connection with their heritage, and a firm Romanian commitment to Euro-Atlantic values, as defined by the Constitution and the treaties to which Romania is a signatory. Romania’s transfiguration will come by nurturing self-confidence, stability through honest work, support for traditional family values and national dignity, the right to life, the right to work, and respect for property—realised through credible and effective policies.
Romania will be a promoter of peace. Its territorial integrity will always be defended by all its citizens. NATO, the Strategic Partnership with the United States, and privileged relations with our neighbours must be well understood by all Romanians—they are and remain essential cornerstones of foreign policy. Romania will once again become a clear, calm, and respected voice within the European Union.
We will rebuild spaces for intergenerational communication. Dignified and natural dialogue will extinguish hatred, and consensus and mutual respect—paramount among ourselves, within the family, and between the state and the citizen—will become the binding agent of a new Romania.
