Climate extremists in Germany set up a series of human blockades in major cities throughout the country on July 14, with some said to be gluing themselves to the roadway.
Activists from the “Last Generation” group have justified the action in light of Germany’s climate-change agenda, accusing the government of breaking its own laws with what they say is its failure to meet emissions targets.
According to a report by Die Welt, blockades are confirmed in Berlin, Dresden, Potsdam and Leipzig, with the Last Generation’s Twitter account claiming protests will take place in 26 cities across the country.

Some activists are said to have glued themselves to the road to make it harder for emergency services or the police to remove them.
Welt also claims at least one traffic accident has occurred, seemingly as a result of Last Generation’s actions.
Police have confirmed that a 31-year-old was injured in a car crash near Nuremberg, with Welt reporting that it happened due to a traffic jam caused by one of the activist group’s blockades. It is unclear how severe the man’s injuries are.
Some Last Generation members are said to be wearing masks depicting senior politicians within the ruling German “traffic-light” government in an apparent attempt to shift the blame for the protests on to parliamentary officials.
“What should we be outraged about? About a government that breaks its own laws or about peaceful protests by citizens who do not simply accept this breaking of the law?” the group wrote online, before asking for donations from the public.
July 14’s blockades come a day after the Last Generation activists stormed two major airports in the country in an apparent attempt to disrupt flights.
That stunt provoked condemnation from senior Green Party member and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck, who stated that the eco-radicals had done “massive damage” to the environmentalist cause over the past months with their highly disruptive protests.
“The activists, who are now blocking people from going on vacation, are massively damaging the issue of climate protection,” he told the German press on July 13.
Law enforcement authorities have also stepped-up efforts to curtail Last Generation’s activities recently, conducting a series of raids against some of its members in May.
The police action came as a result of suspicions that the eco-activists were involved in financing criminal activity.
